"THIS IS THE LORD’S DOING: IT IS MARVELLOUS IN OUR EYES."
KTMCC which began 55 years ago had its First
Homeland Family Conference on Saturday, 19 July, 2008 at Hebronpuram,
Kumbanad, Kerala. The meeting began at 10.30 am with prayer of
Pastor K. P. Mathew. The convener of HFC Mr. T. John Mathew welcomed
the guests and the members. He read the scripture portion, ‘This is
the day that the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.’
Psalm 118: 24.
Inaugural
message was given by The Most Rev. Dr. Philipose Mar Chrisostom Mar
Thoma Valiya Metropolitan. In his speech he specified that the most
wanted need of man is not fame or wealth, but, God.
KTMCC
President Mr. Jacob Thomas who presided the meeting, in his
introductory speech read from 1 Cor 12:27 –‘Now you are the body of
Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.’ He reminded that we
members are one body in Christ and should stand together for the
healthy growth of the Church. Scripture reading from 1 Corinthians
chapter 13 was read by Mr. P. T. Thomas.
The main
message was given by IPC Senior Minister Pastor T. S. Abraham.
Message was based from the book of Daniel 1: 8. He encouraged the
audience to stand firm for the Lord wherever God has placed you.
Praise and
worship session was led by Mr. K. Jacob John and team. The former
and present members of the KTMCC Choir blended their voices
harmoniously which reminded of their past performances at the
National Evangelical Church in Kuwait. Children entertained the
audience with beautiful songs.
Introducing the family members and also giving out the mementos was
done together by Mr. George Mathew and Mr. T. John Mathew. Mementos
were presented to 35 members who were 70 years and above.
Later, at
the business meeting, the members who attended the conference
unanimously supported to conduct such family conferences in the
years ahead. Mr. T. John Mathew, Mr. George Mathew and Mr. K.T.
Joshua where elected as committee members to organize the conference
in the coming year. The general body authorized them to co-opt more
members to help them in the smooth function of the conference. The
meeting came to an end with vote of thanks by Mr. K.P.Koshy and
prayer & benediction by Mr. C. V. Samuel.
Members
from Kannur (North) and Nagercoil (South) traveled all the way to
meet at the centre point Kumbanad (Central Travancore) to refresh
their old friendship. A group photo was taken and was followed by
traditional Kerala lunch which was enjoyed by both young and old.
All who came dispersed by 3 pm excited and promising to meet at the
next Homeland Family Conference……Click
